Roller Conveyors by Pico Automation

Idle Roller Conveyors

In stock

Description

The conveyor consists of a series of metal or plastic tubes (rollers) mounted at regular intervals within a rigid frame. When an object with a firm, flat bottom is placed on the rollers, it glides across the top of them with minimal friction.

Key Features & Advantages

Highly Cost-Effective: With no motors, electrical wiring, or complex electronic components, idle roller conveyors have a low upfront cost and virtually zero energy expenses.

Low Maintenance: Because there are no drive belts, chains, or gearboxes to wear out, maintenance is usually limited to occasionally checking or replacing individual roller bearings.

Modular and Flexible: They are easy to install, extend, move, or configure into straight sections, curves, or declines.

Safe and Quiet: Without motorized parts, these conveyors operate very quietly and pose a much lower risk of injury to workers handling the materials.

Critical Design Considerations

To make sure items move smoothly without getting stuck or tipping over, two main rules apply:

The “Three Rollers” Rule: At least three rollers must be in contact with the bottom of the product at all times. If the product is short and the rollers are spaced too far apart, it will drop into the gaps and get stuck.

The Product Base: The item being moved must have a firm, rigid, and flat bottom (like plastic totes, wooden crates, or sturdy cardboard boxes). Soft-bottomed items like reusable grocery bags, cloth sacks, or sagging boxes will drape over the rollers and stop moving.
