Roller Conveyors by Pico Automation

Flexible Powered Roller Conveyors

In stock

Description

The conveyor uses a flexible “accordion” lattice frame mounted on locking casters. However, unlike standard gravity flexible lines, every few axles feature a Motorized Drive Roller (MDR)—usually a 24V DC brushless motor embedded right inside the roller tube. These motorized rollers are connected to neighboring rollers using high-durability polyurethane O-rings or small chains, transferring power down the entire line even when the conveyor is bent around a sharp 90- degree turn or stretched to its maximum length.

Key Features & Advantages

Effortless Long-Distance Transport: Because the system is fully motorized, it can move heavy packages over long distances horizontally or even up slight inclines without requiring manual labor or a downhill gravity slope.

Smart Accumulation (ZPA): Most flexible powered conveyors are equipped with photo-eye sensors divided into electronic “zones.” When a box stops at the end of the line (e.g., inside a shipping truck), the conveyor detects it and automatically stops the preceding zones. This prevents packages from colliding, piling up, or crushing one another.

Reversible Direction: With a quick control switch, the entire motorized line can change direction, allowing you to use the exact same layout for fluid loading (shipping) and unloading (receiving).

Space Efficiency: When peak shipping hours are over, the conveyor can be electronically compressed to a fraction of its extended size (often a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio) and rolled into a corner out of the way.

Common Applications

Flexible powered conveyors are premium material handling solutions typically deployed in high-throughput environments:

High-Volume Truck Loading & Unloading: They are rolled directly into long shipping containers or trailers. As the truck fills up or empties, the conveyor is gradually compressed or extended, keeping the automated drop-off point right next to the workers.

Fluid Logistics Hubs: Connecting temporary picking modules to main fixed conveyor lines during peak seasonal rushes (like e-commerce holiday surges).

Packaging and Bundling Cells: Transporting diverse box sizes out of automated taping and sealing machines where fixed paths won't fit the changing room layout.
